The Smart Meal program was created by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in 2007 as a strategy to promote healthier eating in Colorado restaurants and other eating establishments. Between 2007 and 2009, the Smart Meal Seal program was adopted in more than 200 Colorado restaurants including McDonalds and Qdoba. After an evaluability audit (conducted in 2008), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation recommended that the Smart Meal program aggressively expand its scope and reach and include a restaurant and consumer marketing component. For this reason, for a limited time only we are offering free menu analyses to the first 50 restaurants. We anticipate promoting the brand and product in the Front Range (estimated population of 4.2 million). The primary audience is adults age 21-54 years.
